Phoenix schools have recently launched a campaign designed to attract kindergarten students to schools within the city. Since school funding is based on enrollment, the more students who are signed up, the more money the school is given. This would imply that the schools that are able to sign up the most students are able to offer the best quality education, since they have more money to work with. This approach is just wrong.

Invisible Filaments and Vortexes in Space

In the author’s article Acupuncture Meridians and the Cosmic Spider Web it was noted that astronomers have actually detected a “universal web”. Vast filaments of hot gas tracing the web have been “seen”. Astronomers using NASA’s X-ray satellite observatory, Chandra, “viewed” the filaments stretching for millions of light years through space, with one passing through our own galaxy. Astronomers say that the filamentary structures are so hot that it would generally be invisible to optical, infrared, and radio telescopes. These filaments connect rotating galaxies and form circuits with currents flowing through them. Being invisible, they are by definition components of “dark matter and energy”. They can only be detected indirectly by radiation from matter that condenses around them.

Applications are now being taken by the European Space Agency (ESA) for volunteers interested in making a simulated trip to Mars. The experiment is being conducted by the Russian Institute of Biomedical Problems and is planned for the duration of 520 days. Mars500 will replicate the anticipated conditions encountered on a spaceflight to the red planet, including watching the Earth disappear in the distance, and experiencing the 40 minutes required for transmission of signals between the Earth and the spacecraft. The food to be served will be the same as that provided to the astronauts on the International Space Station, also including the simulated exploration of the Martian surface.

Today the Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation recognize the Distance Education and Training Council as the only accrediting organization for distance learning institutions and all of the education programs that offer online degrees. Now there are even consortiums formed of universities, such as the Canadian Virtual University, which offers no courses or degrees, but simply acts as a portal for courses from 14 universities all across Canada. Online colleges, that are fully accredited, have earned a widely recognized form of university accreditation from one of six regional accreditation boards.

After I completed a double Ph.D. in social science at the University of Michigan (in 1981), a much broader form of education began. Having disabled my body while training my mind, I went to see a highly recommended healer in Denver, Colorado. He was known simply as Harvey (his little-used last name was Bevier). I was suffering from crippling back pain which endless graduate school had exacerbated. Harvey helped me with my spinal problems and also with my academic blinders; he provided me with a stunning spiritual and mystical education–all without ever mentioning it!

All languages evolve against a backdrop of a country’s historical and technological advances and along the way, new words and usage become part of the vocabulary. These new words will generally fall into two categories; words that have evolved within their own cultural milieu and words that have been ‘borrowed’ from other languages.

For the most part, a vast number of the latter type of words refer to technological developments and it is usually the country that the development originated in, that lends its name for it to other countries.
